Buy A Cow For A Kid
This holiday season help Africa Bridge improve the lives of the most vulnerable children and families in Tanzania. Africa Bridge recently began services in three villages in the Kambesegela Ward of the Rungwe District, located in the rural southern highlands of Tanzania. The people of Kambesegela are amongst the poorest in the world, living on the equivalent to a dollar per day. Collectively Kambesegela and Africa Bridge have decided to turn poverty into prosperity and we need your help.

Aswile Njaganike is one of the community members from our new ward in Kambasegela. He is 77 years old and his wife, Tosigwege Ikugite is 50 years old. They live in a very poor situation and are looking after 2 children and 7 grandchildren. The family of Aswile was identified by our team during the village assembly and the transect walk as one of the most vulnerable households in the ward; they are very poor, frequently sick and are taking care of orphans and most vulnerable children. The income of the household depends entirely on selling Cocoa, a seasonal cash crop found in Kambasegela.

Aswile is a known case of leprosy, a situation that hinders him from doing many social and economic activities;
“… My life is very poor, the whole family depends on me and I have no where to get a help, my old poor wife is very sick, she cannot do much to support the family…”

Aswile could not prevent his feelings when he met with the Africa Bridge staff for the first time,

“…. I was very happy when I heard about Africa Bridge coming to work in our village…. I was informed that Africa Bridge is going to work with our village leadership to support most vulnerable children and poor households…”

Help ignite hope in Aswile and his family once again through Africa Bridge’s Dairy Co-op program. This program provides a pathway from poverty to improved health, and future economic sustainability. This is accomplished by providing a fertilized cow to households with the most vulnerable children. This program creates life long, positive impacts.  By donating to the co-op, you are helping provide the most vulnerable children and their guardians with access to milk for much needed protein, new farming techniques to help create sustainable job skills, and yield crops to create new income streams. Your gift will also help these vulnerable families increase access to education and healthcare. Our Dairy Co-op business model works.
